HOW WE DO IT: TUTORIAL

Cheek enhancements with implants typically take about 60-90 minutes depending on the individual face and other surgical variables.

There are five basic steps to cheek implant surgery.

Step 1 – Marking

Dr. Alexander will make careful marks on your face prior to beginning the procedure.

Step 2 – The incision

Incisions for cheek implants are generally made inside the mouth through the mucosa that lies over the cheek bone where the implant will be placed.

Step 3 – Creating the pocket

A space is created under the soft tissue of the face and over the cheek bone.

Step 4 – Inserting the implant

The implant is placed into the pocket and positioned. No sutures are needed because the pocket is the precise size of the implant, so it cannot move or shift.

Step 5 – Closing the incisions

Internal absorbable sutures close the incisions inside the mouth. A light, compressive dressing is placed on the face to decrease swelling.

Cheek enhancements with fat transfers typically take about 30 minutes depending on the individual face and other surgical variables.

There are four basic steps to cheek fat transfer surgery.

Step 1 – Marking

Dr. Alexander will make careful marks on your face prior to beginning the procedure.

Step 2 – Collecting the fat

Tumescent fluid is placed in the hip or abdomen. Fat is suctioned with a syringe, and the tiny incision is closed with a suture.

Step 3 – Preparing the fat

The fat is washed in saline and separated, then placed into an injection syringe.

Step 4 – Placing the fat

Using a special injection syringe, the fat is injected into the soft tissue of the cheeks in several lines and layers, plumping up the cheek tissue. No dressing is required.

Cheeklifts and midface lifts typically take about 60 minutes depending on the individual face and other surgical variables.

There are four basic steps to a cheek lift.

Step 1 – Incisions

A cheeklift incision begins in the hairline at the temples and continues to the top third of the ear. Occasionally, incisions are made within the temporal hairline.

Step 2 – Undermining, or loosening the skin

The skin is gently loosened from the underlying cheek tissue.

Step 3 – Tightening the cheek tissue

The cheek tissue is tightened with purse string or plication sutures, creating a natural lift to the upper cheek. Occasionally, incisions in the mouth are made to release the cheek tissue from the cheek bone, allowing for a greater lift.br />

Step 4 – Closing the incisions

The skin is re-draped over the uplifted cheek contours, and any excess skin is trimmed away. The incisions are meticulously closed with removable sutures.

Cheek reductions using buccal far removals typically take about 30-60 minutes depending on the individual face and other surgical variables.

There are four basic steps to buccal fat removal.

Step 1 – Marking

Dr. Alexander will make careful marks on your face prior to beginning the procedure.

Step 2 – The incision

Incisions for cheek reduction are generally made inside the mouth inside each cheek.

Step 3 – Removing the fat

The soft, distinct buccal fat is identified and removed.

Step 4 – Closing the incisions

Absorbable sutures are used to close the mucosa. No dressing is required.
