Our plastic surgeons in La Jolla, San Diego perform facial plastic surgery procedures using the most advanced techniques and equipment to achieve excellent results. San Diego patients who desire rhinoplasty (nose reshaping surgery) or chin augmentation to improve their facial proportions rely on the artistry and skill of our surgeons, Dr. John T Alexander and his son Dr. John T. Alexander II.
At our San Diego practice, rhinoplasty can be performed to reshape the nose in many different ways. Our surgeons can alter the size or the tip of the nose, remove bumps, straighten or narrow the bridge, modify the nostrils, and even repair a deviated septum.
Because every nose is different, our surgeons in San Diego customize each rhinoplasty procedure to the individual needs and desires of each patient. Depending upon the complexity and type of surgical work being done on the nose, the doctor may approach rhinoplasty from a number of different angles in order to most easily access the areas to be resculpted. In each case, the surgeon will opt for the technique that will leave the least amount of scarring. After accessing the tissue and bone structure of the nose, the surgeon will work meticulously to enhance the underlying framework to create a well-proportioned, symmetrical nose that will complement the surrounding features of the face.
Rhinoplasty can have an enormous positive impact on an individual’s self-esteem. Patients of our San Diego practice who have undergone rhinoplasty to adjust the appearance of their nose are often thrilled with the results. These patients notice that the overall appearance of their face is more ideally proportioned with their new nose. Many patients who were once dissatisfied with the size or shape of their nose are now delighted to have achieved a more harmonious aesthetic appearance.
For many patients, improved balance of their facial features can be achieved through the careful placement of a chin implant. Through chin augmentation, patients with a weak jaw line can achieve the appropriately sized chin they desire to bring their features into more aesthetically pleasing proportion.
The procedure begins with a consultation with one of our plastic surgeons. You and the surgeon will decide which size and shape of implant will best complement your facial features. Chin implants come in an array of shapes, sizes and materials, so you are assured to find the one that best suits your ideal surgical outcome. During surgery, the surgeon will make a small incision along the jaw line, under the chin. Once the tissue has been separated from the underlying bone, the implant is placed through the incision and positioned symmetrically against the jaw. The incision is then sutured closed and the implant is taped firmly into position to prevent shifting.
Patients of our La Jolla, San Diego practice who have undergone facial plastic surgery with a chin implant are generally very happy with the outcome of their surgery. Both male and female patients have benefited greatly from adjusting their facial contours with a chin implant. After surgery, patients notice that their facial features are more balanced, whereas before surgery their smaller chin may have directed undue attention to their nose or caused their profile to seem disproportionate. For many patients, their chin implant successfully compensates for the age-related depletion of their natural chin volume.
